We invite you to imagine with us new ways to engage with art and artists. The Spencer Museum of Art is proud of the vital role it plays in learning, research, and engagement through art and creativity. We are a place that leverages the power of art to enhance the health and well-being of our communities. Join us in continuing to build an exciting and meaningful art museum and embrace novel ways to inspire generations of Jayhawks and museum visitors.
The Spencer Museum of Art is a leader among the academic art museum community. It welcomes artists and scholars, students and community members, inviting them into a space characterized by creative research, academic rigor, and artistic investigation. It’s a place for community conversations and meaningful connections.
A gift to The Spencer Museum of Art will expand spaces as well as minds. Through the Arts Research Integration (ARI) initiative and other programs, scholars, students and visitors will co-create and co-curate new experiences in the arts while acquiring knowledge from a broad range of disciplines, including physics, astronomy, history, business, music, law, environmental sciences, languages and the social sciences.
Now is the time to make a transformative gift to the Spencer Museum of Art to address the following priorities:
This initiative prioritizes accessible art facilities to support and grow stewardship and share art by opening up access to collections, linking other campus collections, and connecting art with students and communities. By creating flexible spaces with many uses, the Spencer Museum of Art can expand KU’s horizons in support of art, creativity, and collecting.
This initiative highlights the need for people who bring the art museum to life, sustaining present and future programming, powering our spaces and rethinking engagement with art and ideas. Supporting this initiative allows us to make art more accessible to you — whether you are in Lawrence or far away — and diversify and innovate ways to recruit, retain and engage the best and brightest here at KU.
Arts Research Integration is designed to bring people from all over the university together to solve some of our most challenging and complex problems — global climate change, migration, social justice, race and gender, technology, and human well-being, to name a few. We believe artists are researchers in their own right, asking questions that would otherwise go unasked and building richer dialogue. The first $750,000 in support of this program is matched dollar for dollar, doubling your impact.
