KU’s School of Health Professions marked its 50th year in 2024, and in its 50 years has grown to include more than 25 undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs, five of which are ranked in the top 15 in the nation. The school’s faculty, staff and students are health care experts, research leaders and valued community partners.
As the population ages, health care professions are projected to grow by 15% from 2019 to 2029. With your support, the School of Health Professions can face the increasing need for experts in everything from rehabilitation to food science and community health.
Health Professions faculty members like Jacob Sosnoff, Ph.D., associate dean for research, make research their life’s work because the results can be life changing. Sosnoff’s research on falls addresses major health concerns as the population ages. Caitlin Lisk, PhD, was the first to study children with autism and beneficial interactions with pets. They are among many who make a difference — as researchers and educators — and keep the School of Health Professions at the top in national rankings.
With your support, the School of Health Professions will advance into its next 50 years, creating health professionals that contribute to better lives in Kansas, the nation and the world.
Now is the time to make a transformative gift to the School of Health Professions to address the following priorities:
More health professionals are needed, and scholarships are key to attracting talented students to KU. For students who need assistance, scholarships may be the deciding factor in choosing to pursue their health profession degree. That benefits society in countless ways, like a more capable population with the help of physical and occupational therapists and healthier food outcomes and science through dietetics and nutrition.
The KU Center for Community Access, Rehabilitation Research, Education and Service (KU CARES), an initiative of the School of Health Professions, focuses on preventing disability and maximizing quality of life in people living with a disability. KU CARES leverages rehabilitation research that already exists across campus and supports developing and implementing innovative interventions that help everyone in Kansas.
Supporting KU CARES will help foster collaboration among KU researchers and enhance opportunities for students and faculty to collaborate and work with others from different programs and different schools within KU Medical Center, including researchers working on brain health and neurosciences.
